Authentic N95 Masks

The Future of N95 Masks for Healthcare and the General Public

As SARS-CoV-2 variants continue to spread, first responders, healthcare workers and the general public, especially those at high risk from the virus, need to know that they’ve received the best protection possible against airborne fluid and particle transmission. The majority of medical and research experts agree that cloth masks do nothing more than create a false sense of protection. Three-ply surgical masks, although better than single- or double-layer cloth options, fail to provide a tight enough fit at the sides of the face and doubling these masks with cloth ones still doesn’t protect well enough. Authentic N95 masks are confirmed by NIOSH as a product that offers a certain level of protection from airborne liquid and solid particles.

Which Masks Work Best?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) both agree that N95 medical and non-medical respirator-style masks certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) provide the most protection. An authentic NIOSH N95 mask is confirmed by NIOSH as a product that offers a certain level of protection from airborne liquid and solid particles. The “95” guarantees that the N95 mask provides at least 95 percent filtration efficiency.

Yet, alternative suppliers and speculators have been importing masks from both legitimate and illegitimate manufacturers in an attempt to capitalize today on the short-term and long-term safety of our first responders, healthcare workers and the country at large. In an attempt to quickly make money off the need for this critical tool, some sellers have flooded the market with fake N95 masks or turned to price gouging by selling their products for three or more times the industry standard amount for consumer sales.

What Does All of This Mean for the Future?

Although SARS-CoV-2 might eventually become endemic, all experts agree that we can expect new variants to appear over time. Additionally, some populations can’t receive vaccinations and recent hospital surges proved that spread and breakthrough cases in vaccinated populations do also occur with this virus. Every woman, man and child are going to need access to affordable, authentic N95 masks to protect themselves and others. The key words to remember are “affordable” and “authentic.”

Without every person wearing an N95 mask like the Makrite model 9500-N95 or Makrite Sekura-X that qualify as both, we can expect more hospital surges, worsening employment and economic outcomes and a greater loss of life in the future. New trends in the global and national markets also show that the demand for these types of masks is only going to increase as time passes and more people accept mask wearing as a normal part of their daily lives that’s no different than wearing a shirt and shoes in a store or a seatbelt in a motor vehicle. First responders and medical personnel especially will continue to seek authentic NIOSH N95 options rated specifically for medical and surgical settings. They need to know that they’re using masks that give them the most protection and comfort.

High Quality NIOSH N95 Masks

The firm, circular surgical Makrite NIOSH model 9500-N95 is one good choice because it creates a tight seal around all nasal and oral facial openings and supplies a combination of airborne contaminant and microorganism and fluid-splatter protection. Instead of looping over the ears, which can cause a mask to fall off small ears and pain, it features two headbands that securely cup the back of the head. It’s available in a universal size and a smaller 9500-N95S size for a better fit for people with small faces. The fluid-resistant Makrite 910-N95FMX is another highly recommended NIOSH N95 mask option. It also features adjustable head straps. The Makrite 910-N95FMX masks differs from the other model because it features a vertical-and-flat-folded design with a less firm shape that molds to people’s faces better. This model of mask also provides more breathing room for better in-mask airflow so that people feel less restricted when wearing masks.

The Importance of N95 Masks

Importance of N95 Medical Masks for Healthcare Workers, First Responders, and General Public

The US authorities through the Center for Disease Control, CDC, have recommended using N95 medical masks to offer the highest level of protection against the quickly spreading omicron variant. Initially, the CDC had recommended that the N95 medical masks be used only by medical workers. Still, due to the surge in infections by the omicron variant, the CDC has reversed these guidelines and recommended the use of N95 masks for both fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated, especially in public places where the rates of transmission of the omicron variant are high. N95 masks differ from surgical masks in that they fit to form a tight seal against the face, and the user is required to pull air through the mask’s filter. Surgical masks are loosely fit, and the user pulls air through both sides of the gap. In addition, N95 masks are designed to keep out respiratory droplets and smaller aerosol particles. The importance of N95 Masks being worn is immeasurable. There are many N95 masks available on the market include a number of different Makrite models that are all NIOSH certified including the model 9500-N95, the Sekura-N95, Sekura-X, and of course the 3M 8210 N95 Respirator.

Why the CDC recommends N95 medical masks for healthcare workers and first responders

The US Food and Drug Administration agency pointed out that surgical masks effectively protect against droplets with large particles but not those transmitted through a cough or sneeze. Respirators such as N95 medical masks effectively protect against the transmission of the virus through cough or sneeze. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, the virus is attached to water and mucus; hence a tight-fitting N95 medical mask covering the nose and mouth will prevent anyone nearby from contracting the virus. For healthcare workers and first responders at the forefront of battling the new omicron variant, N95 medical masks will effectively help protect them from contracting the highly infectious variant. The Makrite model 9500-N95 is NIOSH Certified N95 medical mask popular among healthcare workers that offer protection and comfort. The Makrite model 9500-N95 also has a Surgical Rating, which is an essential item for frontline healthcare workers and first responders.

Why the CDC recommends the use of N95 medical masks for the general public

The new omicron variant is highly transmissible. While most people are getting vaccinated, the process is yet to be completed, and the authorities still advise the general public to mask whether fully vaccinated or otherwise. The CDC has insisted on the general public to mask consistently with a well-fitting medical mask covering the nose and mouth in areas where the transmission rates of the virus are substantial. The CDC recommends the N95 medical masks since they are tight-fitting and prevent droplets from coughs and sneezes from being transmitted from person to person. Masking is mandatory when using public transportation and in transportation hubs such as train stations and airports. N95 medical masks available on the market for the general public include Makrite N95 Mask, NIOSH N95 Mask, and Makrite 910-N95FMX.

Conclusion

N95 medical masks adequately protect the new highly transmissible omicron variant for frontline caregivers, first responders, and the general public. N95 medical masks are comfortable and fit perfectly, covering the mouth and nose while protecting any fluid from a cough or sneeze from entering. The N95 Mask will help protect frontline caregivers from contracting the new highly transmissible omicron variant. In addition, the general public can protect themselves and others from contracting the omicron COVID-19 variant by wearing the well-fitting N95 medical masks consistently in public areas where the transmission rates are likely to be high. The war against the pandemic is a collective responsibility, and consistently wearing effective medical masks such as the N95 Mask will significantly help in reducing transmissions, especially with the discovery of the highly transmissible omicron variant.

N95 Respirators for Healthcare

The world has been in transition since the spread of the Coronavirus, also known as Covid-19. The year 2020 marked a shift in societal standards, behavior, interactions, and almost a total disruption in how the average person views infection prevention. Less than two years later, we are still being reminded by the CDC and healthcare leaders that mask use contributes to individual personal safety and offers significant defense against the spread of the virus. With the rise in Covid-19 delta variant infections and deaths resulting from the virus, the simple recommendation to wear a face mask has now become a recurring theme.  Additionally the need for healthcare facilities to use disposable N95 respirators surgical rated masks has continued to remain steady.  All of this demand has lured many entrepreneurs and start ups into the business of selling masks.

Healthcare facilities like to work with suppliers that they trust and tend to work with those companies that have a history of performance.  Understanding that patient care is their number one priority they choose their business partners carefully.

Rather than working with third party brokers and fly-by-night operations, the healthcare sector requires a legitimate source to establish a direct relationship for the supply of NIOSH Certified N95 of masks.

SPH Medical lifts the burden of determining legitimacy as they are an Authorized Distributor for Makrite.  Makrite is a global leader in mask manufacturing with more than 30 years of experience.  SPH Medical receives product directly from Makrite delivering multiple N95 Mask options to hospitals, industrial customers, and the rest of the world.

The increased use of N95 Masks in the healthcare sector and by the general public has increased the demand for improvements in comfort, fit, and performance.  Makrite is on the cutting edge of this trend and is actively working on research and development of new and improved models.  Makrite is listening to customers and getting direct feedback to continually improve their products.

The Future of N95s

The reliance on N95s for protection from airborne and aerosolized particle virus transmissions has gone up through Covid-19 waves.

Before the norm of wearing face masks, often only medical professionals would typically use a surgical rated N95 respirator.

Today, with the slow impact of vaccines, the surgical rated N95 respirators are a tool for personal security against infection.  In the future we see a variety of new Surgical rated N95 Respirators in the product development pipeline that will be available for Healthcare customers and the general public.

Unfortunately, the massive spike in demand for protection from the virus resulted in a shortage of masks throughout the world.  Manufacturers were caught off guard by this new global demand.  Raw material shortages and supply chain issues were additional factors that contributed to massive price increases for this essential personal protective equipment.  With the manufacturing and supply of NIOSH certified N95 Masks hanging delicately in the balance, the next big question could be: What is the future of N95s?

Despite safety in mind, comfort and effectiveness have surfaced as other equally important issues with face masks.

Having one on all day in a busy environment could keep you safe, but can we all bear it? Day by day, people loosen their needs for safety over the whelming desire for comfort and a break from everything.

Effectiveness has also come up in different ways. Materials used in the manufacture of various mask models could determine their effectiveness.

A mask’s design and layering could also determine its ideal use (some are too thin to capture virus-sized particles, while others, such as the N95s, are well-specialized).

Surgical Rating for an N95 Respirators

Medical professionals are among the frontline caregivers/responders. While various masks could serve optimal purposes, Makrite models of N95s have proven trustworthy and effective.

Every frontline responder deserves high-level protection from airborne and aerosolized particle virus transmissions.

Therefore, different mask types acquire certification standards for their uses; every country, with its own (the USA’s being N, thus the N95 Masks).

An N95’s surgical rating establishes a standard for its use among healthcare professionals and other frontline caregivers.

New Market Trends

The medical industry has undergone a paradigm shift in the new trends resulting from the Covid-19 virus. Before its spread in late 2019 and throughout 2020, there was no insistence or global demand for personal protective equipment, otherwise known as PPE.

The changes in this climate of virus prevention have led to unimaginable changes.

While many businesses have closed down, others have reaped some benefits from the looming fears and the societal inclination towards extensive protection and enhancements on safety measures.

The PPE industry, for instance, has witnessed an increased dependence on PPE for protection from infection.

One of the notable trends is the daily and global use of masks for non-medical use. Considering different mask types, the demand for more effective and comfortable models shoots higher by the day.

Along with non-medical use is the increased sensitivity of the medical environment; this has made masks necessary and mandatory at all times in such environments and when providing services.

The Makrite model 9500-N95 Respirator is a step up to surgical masks, providing comfort and efficiency. It leads the market in the infusion of NIOSH N95 Mask technology for reliable protection.

Other models increasing in popularity are the comfort fit Makrite Sekura-N95.  The Makrite Sekura-N95 was recently resubmitted to NIOSH for surgical approval and received approval under the new name Sekura-X.

The Makrite model 9500 N95 Respirators

The Makrite N95 Mask is certified and meets the N95 NIOSH standards.

Makrite mask users will enjoy protection from solid particles, among other substances, which may include but are not limited to iron ore, coal, minerals, and flour; their design and fabric also make them comfortable and effective in protection from Covid-19 airborne transmissions.

Today, the Makrite 9500-N95 and Makrite Sekura-N95 are industry leaders in the world of NIOSH certified N95 Masks.

Makrite’s Industry Experience

Makrite’s time in the industry has seen the development of a broad portfolio of protective masks that it delivers to countries across the globe.

The demand for more of the Makrite N95 Mask through the two years of Covid-19 infections and spread has resulted in improved models suitable for medical environments and for general, non-medical uses.

The Importance of an Authorized Distributor Like SPH Medical

The demand for personal protective equipment became a reality as the Covid-19 pandemic began and and this disease continues to impact the way we go about our daily lives.  N95 respirators are crucial for maximum personal protection.

Acquiring them for a healthcare institution or large numbers of individuals who require protection demands trust and authenticity.

Healthcare products that provide protection such as N95 Masks and Nitrile Exam Gloves are critical for all healthcare workers. Therefore, authorized distributors of healthcare products, such as these, and including Chemo Tested Nitrile Exam Gloves, must have a history of performance.  SPH Medical has an unmatched track record of supplying hospitals and healthcare systems with essential Safe Patient Handling solutions and safety supplies.  SPH Medical is an authorized distributor of N95 respirators and Nitrile Exam Gloves.

The value of working with SPH Medical is the direct access to distribution of masks and essential supplies without the need for a third party.  Thirty years of manufacturing experience puts Makrite ahead of other manufacturers with demonstrated quality and reliability.

The N95 Mask: Then Vs. Now

The Demand for Surgical Masks is Growing

COVID-19 has left a trail of wreckage, upset, and gloom in its wake. As this fatal virus continues to ravage the world, the demand for surgical masks is growing, resulting in shortages around the country. The N95 mask in particular, are a popular choice among both frontline workers and the general public. Touted as the optimal personal protective equipment, these FDA-approved surgical respirators are coveted for their fluid resistance, efficient filtration of airborne particles, high surgical rating, and biocompatibility. Unfortunately, increased demands for N95 masks have prompted alternative suppliers to capitalize on market gaps.

While many are keen to get their hands on N95 masks, purchasing surgical masks through third-party vendors is ill-advised. At SPH Medical, we’re an authorized distributor, so we know the risks that come with going through the middleman. For the sake of promoting mass production, alternative suppliers often use imitation materials. As a result, their products are low-quality, generic, and less durable. Unlike unauthorized sellers, we put a premium on reliability and transparency, which is why we work directly with the factory.

Where N95 Mask Production Is Headed

With consumers growing increasingly desperate for N95 masks, production is expected to ramp up. Throughout 2021, experts forecast that production spending will reach $1 billion. We can also anticipate more domestic consumption of these products. Many companies have already vowed to broaden their domestic reach to foster enhanced capacity and capabilities.

However, with new variants being introduced, third-party suppliers are gaining more traction. Though these illegitimate suppliers have lent a helping hand during these unprecedented times, consumers are compromising on quality for convenience. To ensure that this new reality doesn’t wreak irreparable havoc on public health, we at SPH Medical are using our industry resources for good. As a certified distributor for Makrite Industries, we’re making the future of N95 production a lot brighter.

How Cutting-Edge Developments Are Unfolding

Fortunately, we’ve not grown stagnant in our attempts to revolutionize N95 respirators and fluid protection masks. Makrite, for instance, has recently created the Makrite 910-N95FMX. As a new variation of the NIOSH N95 mask, the Makrite 910-N95FMX boasts updated features. Certified by the CDC and FDA, this all-new Makrite N95 mask promises unmatched comfort, protection, and durability. With its snug fit and adjustable straps, this Makrite N95 mask is a highly sought-after surgical respirator.

The Makrite model 9500-N95 is an equally desirable option. In addition to being NIOSH-approved, the model 9500-N95 is also exceedingly effective, making it an ideal choice for first responders and frontline caregivers. In fact, it’s our most popular N95 surgical respirator. With COVID-19 taking new forms and, in turn, posing unparalleled threats, these cutting-edge surgical respirators are proving a godsend. Fortunately, with Makrite’s 30 years of industry experience, this trusted manufacturer is making it possible for healthcare personnel to adhere to safety guidelines.

Market Trends On The Horizon

As the coronavirus demonstrates its stubborn presence, the disposable face mask market is predicted to grow. More specifically, trend forecasters anticipate an annual increase of 53 percent over the next seven years. This startling figure bespeaks the unrelenting need for N95 masks. With these demands on the rise, qualified distributors are being urged to spring into action.

As a certified supplier, we’re doing our part to fill these market gaps. In other words, we’re partnering with dependable manufacturers like Makrite so that healthcare workers and industries receive the supplies they desperately need to fight this virus. As we continue to provide for these everyday heroes, our dedication to quality is unwavering. For all your NIOSH N95 mask and surgical respirator needs, make SPH Medical your go-to source.

NIOSH N95 Masks for Public Use

The Growing Prevalence Of NIOSH N95 Masks

Before the coronavirus reared its fatal, viral, and contagious head, masks were predominantly worn by medical professionals. However, the world has been gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic for nearly a year, resulting in an increased demand for personal protective equipment. NIOSH N95 masks, in particular, are sought-after for their filtration efficiency, high surgical rating, and FDA approval. As these public demands remain on an upward trajectory, alternative suppliers are leaping at the opportunity to fill market gaps.

As an authorized distributor, we at SPH Medical understand the risks that come with opting for third-party vendors. In some cases, manufacturers use imitation materials and, in turn, produce cheap, inauthentic, and low-quality products. Not only does this take away from the efficacy of the N95 mask, but it also makes them less durable. To promote credibility and ensure peace of mind, we work directly with the factory. It’s for this reason why we’re a trusted source for surgical masks.

The Future Of NIOSH N95 Mask Production

Not surprisingly, we can anticipate a massive increase in the production and distribution of N95 masks. In fact, industry experts predict that domestic production will amount to roughly $1 billion in 2021. Much like third-party suppliers, we’ve also become heavily reliant on foreign vendors. In the hopes of scaling back our consumption of and reliance on overseas providers, companies are enhancing their domestic industrial capacity and capabilities.

Even still, we can expect unauthorized organizations to remain at the forefront of mask production and distribution. While third-party sellers have proven a godsend in times of need, consumers are now blurring the line between authenticity and convenience. For the sake of preserving our nation’s public health, we at SPH Medical strongly encourage consumers to purchase surgical masks from certified distributors like us.

How Masks Are Evolving

Fortunately, we’re seeing how rapidly fluid protection masks and N95 respirators are evolving. As a distributor forMakrite Industries, we’re witnessing these cutting-edge developments firsthand. For instance, the latest NIOSH N95 mask to grace the market is the Makrite 910-N95FMX. Ideal for frontline workers, the Makrite 910-N95FMX offers unmatched protection and comfort. In addition to meeting FDA requirements, it’s also adjustable, snug, and reliable.

Equally innovative is the Makrite model 9500-N95. Applauded for its durability and quality, the model 9500-N95 is NIOSH-approved and highly effective. In essence, it’s emblematic of Makrite’s 30 years of industry experience. If not for these modern versions of surgical masks, frontline caregivers and first responders would be at an increased risk of severe illness. As COVID-19 continues to prove a global threat, trusted manufacturers like Makrite are working hard to revolutionize and reinforce appropriate safety measures.

Market Trends

The need for surgical masks will only amplify as COVID-19 takes more lives. With that said, the N95 mask market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 53 percent for the next seven years. This unprecedented figure is evidence of the unwavering demand for N95 masks. To meet these expanding needs, it’s essential for qualified distributors to respond promptly and efficiently. At SPH Medical, we’re doing just that.

The Makrite N95 mask is one of our more popular surgical respirators. Much like the projected market trends, our figures are on an upward spiral. As we continue to fight this widespread virus, we’re proud to work with such a reputable manufacturer like Makrite that’s consistently providing for healthcare workers and industries. Whether you need a Makrite N95 mask or another top-notch surgical respirator, place your trust in SPH Medical.

N95 Masks for Maximum Protection

N95 Masks for Maximum Protection

When dealing with a respiratory virus like COVID-19, hospitals rely on PPE such as N95 masks and gowns to keep staff members safe. Early on in the coronavirus pandemic, there were critical shortages of this essential gear. In hard-hit places like New York and California, doctors and nurses were crafting PPE out of supplies they had on hand. Even after several months, there are still concerns about shortages with each new wave of the virus.

Breaks in the N95 Mask Supply Chain

A NIOSH N95 mask is an essential piece of protection for medical workers. The N95 gets its name from its ability to filter 95% of airborne particles. When properly fitted, air passes through a filtration material that protects the wearer from exposure.

In the United States, the mask shortage began for several reasons. The 2009 swine flu epidemic depleted the national PPE stockpile. To cut costs, medical centers tend to order supplies as needed rather than holding onto a surplus. These trends meant that hospitals entered the first COVID-19 surge without sufficient PPE resources.

At the same time, manufacturers were not ramping up production, and the federal government did not engage the Defense Production Act for masks. Mask production increased. However, it was not enough to create a comfortable surplus.

Surgical vs. non-Surgical Masks

At the beginning of the pandemic, there was public confusion about masks. Another factor in the NIOSH N95 mask shortage was people outside the medical field purchasing masks for personal use. While the CDC was recommending cloth face coverings, ordinary citizens were donning surgical-grade masks.

The FDA gives a surgical rating to facemasks. Manufacturers design these masks so that they resist fluid splatters during procedures. However, most surgical masks are not respirators. The disposable masks worn by most hospital staff members will allow airborne viruses to travel through gaps at the edges.

When caring for COVID-19 patients, a surgical N95 mask like the Makrite 910-N95FMX offers extra protection. It has both the NIOSH rating as a respirator and the FDA surgical rating. This type of face covering allows medical personnel to treat COVID-19 positive patients with greater confidence.

Choosing the Right N95 Mask

The type of fit is an important difference between a Makrite N95 mask and a standard surgical face covering. A standard, three-ply medical mask protects staff members from bodily fluids, and it protects patients by blocking many of the airborne droplets from the staff. N95 masks create an airtight seal that forces inhaled and exhaled air through a filter. It requires a tight fit to do its job properly.

Medical staff members may need to try several models before they find the perfect fit. The Makrite model 9500-N95 has a traditional shape in two sizes. It comfortably covers the mouth and nose of most people. However, the innovative shape of the Makrite 910-N95FMX may provide a better custom fit for some staff members.

The Future of N95 Masks

The global supply of N95 masks continues to be a concern. As the current pandemic winds down, governments would be wise to resupply their stockpiles of PPE. Hospitals may also want to consider increasing their on-hand supply of masks. When these institutions increase their demands, manufacturers will ramp up production to meet them.

The Importance of Working with an Authorized Distributor

The sudden demand for PPE has led some distributors to seek supplies from foreign manufacturers who may not participate in a rigorous approval and quality-testing process. At SPH Medical, we think that our essential workers are too important to take this chance. We work directly with Makrite, a manufacturing company with 30 years of experience in the field. When a nurse or doctor at your facility wears a model 9500-N95 or another Makrite M95 mask, you can have confidence knowing that they are working with a high-quality product.

If you have questions about your Makrite N95 mask needs, contact SPH Medical today.

Patients Flooding Healthcare Facilities

The healthcare industry has long been using the N95 Masks as an effective measure to protect frontline workers and first responders from illness. With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, there are more patients flooding healthcare facilities. In addition, businesses in other industries like manufacturing are ordering large quantities of masks to protect their staff members.

Overall, the demand for the NIOSH 95 mask has drastically increased. Unfortunately, mask manufacturers are unable to keep up with the instantaneous skyrocketing demand. This has resulted in an overall shortage of N95 Masks. Many professionals are finding that they have to stretch the use of their mask well beyond its point of disposal until new shipments arrive.

Are All N95 Masks The Same?

The CDC recommends the N95 to protect people in the healthcare industry from airborne particles infected with the coronavirus. This type of personal protective equipment comes in many different styles, sizes, and ratings.

Our most popular selling N95 respirator, the Makrite Model 9500-N95, is a go-to essential for all healthcare workers. This individual respirator holds a NIOSH certification, which is a must-have certification according to OSHA for healthcare workers.

What Is A NIOSH Certification?

Any Makrite N95 Mask that holds a NIOSH certification has been successfully evaluated by the National Institute For Occupational Safety And Health (NIOSH) to be effective at protecting users against harmful airborne particles. All NIOSH certified masks meet the minimum requirements set forth in Title 42, Section 84 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The Makrite 910-N95FMX is the newest in surgical respirator technology. It’s both a NIOSH N95 respirator and hasbeen given a surgical rating by the FDA. This mask is proven effective at providing fluid resistance, airborne particle resistance, and is comfortable for the wearer.

What Is A Surgical Rating?

Apart from receiving a NIOSH rating, a mask can receive a Surgical Rating. This rating is granted by the FDA after the mask is proven to effectively protect the user in a surgical environment. The main attributes of a surgical mask is they are both fluid and fire-resistant.

The fit test is designed to ensure that workers are able to appropriately wear their mask so that it effectively filters the air they breathe. OSHA recommends a fit test for each staff member upon employment and annually. The fit test helps to identify what specific style and size mask best fits the user.

What is a Fit Test?

During a fit test, the seal between the mask and the user’s face is evaluated. Each fit test takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. A qualitative fit test is performed with respirators like the mask where only the nose and mouth are covered. The tester will use one of the four substances accepted by OSHA to detect any leakage in the mask’s seal. These four substances include:

  • Saccharin (results in a sweet taste)
  • Bitrex (results in a bitter taste)
  • Irritant Smoke (causes coughing)
  • Isoamyl Acetate (smells like bananas)

If the testee experiences any one of the results above caused by the testing substance, then they fail the fit test with the specific mask they’re wearing. The testee will need to undergo the fit test again with a different style or size N95 mask. Once the testee passes the fit test, they’ll be able to successfully wear that mask in the field with success.

The Future Of N95 Masks

As you know, the Makrite N95 Mask has been in high demand. Many healthcare workers are currently experiencing major shortages in their mask supplies. This shortage has forced many to reuse their disposable masks for days on end. Currently, the nation’s leading mask suppliers have been enacting plans to boost mask production.

Right now, it seems that mask manufacturers just need more time to beef up their production efforts to meet the ongoing global demand. To ensure your frontline workers’ safety, you must work with distributors like SPH Medical who are a direct link to the mask manufacturers. This relationship will help to get your healthcare facility quality masks when they become first available.

A Trusted Source for N95 Surgical Masks

Looking for a Trusted Source for N95 Surgical Masks?

While the statistics related to the COVID-19 pandemic are improving worldwide, it’s clear the U.S. is not out of the woods as of yet. There are still outbreaks occurring in communities from shore to shore. Hospitals and businesses are looking for a trusted source for N95 Surgical Masks and mask purchases.

With no clear end of the pandemic in sight and a second wave looming, the demand for NIOSH Certified, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Surgical N95 Respirators (masks) is still high. Meanwhile, the shortage of N95 masks seems to be holding steady. With that said, there are fears that the demand could increase even further in fall and winter if a second wave of Coronavirus outbreaks comes to fruition.

About the N95 Mask

While the debate over the reliability of common surgical masks rages on, there is growing evidence that the N95 mask is leading the way in terms of reliability. For people who aren’t yet aware, the N95 designation represents that the mask filters out at least 95% of airborne particles. That percentage accounts for the popularity of N95 masks among first responders and healthcare professionals.

Current Trends

In the early days of the pandemic, there was a disturbing shortage of N95 masks due to unpreparedness issues throughout the world. While the use of these types of surgical masks had previously been limited to doctors/nurses performing surgical procedures, N95 masks now have a new purpose, compliments of the pandemic.

As urgent demands for said masks increased, the problem became serious enough that the U.S. government was forced to limit purchases of N95 masks. It was a calculated effort to make sure the people who needed a NIOSH N95 Mask could get one. BTW: NIOSH stands for National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a CDC related agency.

It’s not surprising that the shortage eventually led to the illicit counterfeiting of masks, something that continues today. Unfortunately, there are lots of rogue merchants out there in the marketplace offering their cheap knock-off versions of the N95. More sophisticated fakes have been shipped with fake boxes that make the product look legitimate. The problem with these knockoffs is they come with no real testing or validation of performance. Counterfeits often include fake certifications from NIOSH.

How to Avoid Counterfeit Masks

The last thing a healthcare professional needs is contamination from COVID-19 when they thought they had the protection they needed. Compared to a NIOSH N95 Mask, other masks don’t measure up. That’s why it is of vital importance that people take precautions when buying an N95 mask or supply of masks.

The best way to avoid counterfeits is to make mask purchases from a trusted source for N95 Surgical Masks and a reliable medical supply dealer like SPH Medical. At SPH, we have inventory control measures in place to make sure our customers get the quality products they order.

The Makrite N95 Mask
